Cutera’s signature non-ablative laser, on a genuine Xeo platform
Laser Genesis is performed here on a genuine Cutera Xeo with the genuine Cutera 1064nm Nd:YAG handpiece. It is the treatment the platform is best known for, and it has a long track record precisely because it is gentle.
Rather than removing the surface of the skin, it delivers controlled warmth into the dermis. That does 2 things at once. It prompts the skin to lay down new collagen, and it targets the tiny dilated vessels that make some complexions look permanently flushed.
The result builds quietly. Most people notice a healthy glow the same day, then see texture, pore size and overall calmness improve across a series and for several months after it.
What it is good for
Laser Genesis is a skin quality treatment. It is chosen for how skin looks and feels overall rather than for one isolated mark.
- Persistent facial redness
- The look of diffuse flushing
- Visible surface capillaries
- Enlarged pores
- Fine lines
- Uneven skin texture
- The appearance of acne scarring
- Dull, tired-looking skin
It builds the skin rather than stripping it
Aggressive resurfacing works by injuring the surface and letting it heal. Laser Genesis does the opposite: it warms the dermis to prompt new collagen and elastin, so the skin gets stronger over a course rather than needing to recover from each session.
It calms the look of redness
The same gentle heating shrinks the dilated microvasculature that makes some complexions look permanently flushed. Over a series, the overall impression of redness softens and the skin reads calmer.
You can go straight back to your day
There is no peeling, no crusting and nothing to hide. Most people notice an immediate healthy glow, and the collagen response keeps working quietly for months afterwards.
It suits skin that reacts to everything else
For skin that flushes easily or has found stronger treatments too much, this is often the treatment that finally works, because it is comfortable and does not compromise the barrier.
Often paired with IPL
Each treatment does something the other does not. IPL is the better tool for unwanted pigment, sun damage and defined surface capillaries. Laser Genesis strengthens the skin from within and softens the look of diffuse redness, texture and pores.
Run together across a course, they cover far more ground than either does alone. To be straight with you though, Laser Genesis improves the appearance of general redness and overall skin quality. It does not replace a dedicated vascular laser for every individual visible vessel, and anyone telling you otherwise is overselling it.
Questions
What clients ask before booking
What does Laser Genesis actually do?
It warms the deeper layer of the skin in a controlled way, using a gentle 1064nm wavelength. That warming encourages the skin to build new collagen over the following months, and it targets the tiny surface vessels that make skin look persistently flushed. It works underneath the surface rather than resurfacing the top of it, which is why it feels comfortable and looks unremarkable afterwards.
Is there any downtime?
Virtually none, and this is the genuine advantage of it. Most people leave with a healthy glow and a little warmth that settles quickly, and go straight back to work or out to dinner. It is one of the few treatments on our menu you can have in your lunch break.
How many sessions will I need?
A series of 4 to 6 gives the most noticeable improvement. Collagen builds gradually rather than overnight, so results continue developing for several months after your last session. Jessica will map out a realistic number for your skin at your consultation rather than selling you a package on day 1.
Does it suit all skin types?
Yes. Because it is non-ablative and works by gentle heating rather than by targeting pigment, it is considered safe across all skin tones. Your skin is still assessed properly beforehand, and anything in your history that matters is discussed first.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as a warm, gradually building sensation rather than pain. There are no needles and no anaesthetic. If at any point it is more than comfortable, tell your therapist and the settings are adjusted.
How is it different to IPL?
They do different jobs and work well together. IPL is the better choice for unwanted pigment, sun damage and defined surface capillaries. Laser Genesis works on overall skin quality: the appearance of diffuse redness, texture, pore size and firmness. It is not a substitute for a dedicated vascular laser on every individual visible vessel.
Start with a skin consultation
Every course starts by looking at your skin properly and agreeing a realistic number of sessions, rather than committing you to a package before anyone has seen it.
